I think I was pretty much rendered incoherent by: “Kudos for your…decorative aesthetic.” And then they had a tea party! That's the only thing better than Thanksgiving dinner together! I only wonder why I've never imagined this scenerio before, as I've been longing for a Clark/Lionel tea party to happen on the show ever since you brought it up.
And I've actually been craving Chlark fic like this all week: I keep looking for decent Chlark fic, but I can rarely find any where Chloe actually has a life and does interesting reporter things first and has interactions with Clark second. Because fic where Chloe does nothing but talking about her feeeeeeeelings = if I wanted that then I could just rewatch S2! But yet, here is fic with Chloe having a life, on my very flist! Fantastic!
I like how you paid attention to all of her relationships: Jimmy smothers her (I love the line about the macaroni art), Lana kinda needs to be punched in the face...I love that Lex doesn't look her in the eye anymore...and Lionel shows her his hand, which is like my FAVORITE CHLIONEL THING EVER and why I loved the scene in Zod so much (even if maybe he wasn't really showing his hand, he was possibly just pretending to since he was going, "Oh noes my Kryptonian connection is totally gone!" to Chloe and then going, "How do I write MISS SULLIVAN IS KIND OF HOT REALLY in Kryptonian, I wonder?" at the end of the episode?)...but Clark pays attention to her.
Also, Clark is apparently secretly planning their wedding. That makes me happy. I bet he has the parkas all picked out. Though really, a wedding at the fortress might not be the Best Idea Evar, since I would really not be surprised if Jor-El just decided to irrationally gun down Chloe for some pointless reason: "KAL-EL! YOU DID NOT FINISH EATING YOUR VEGETABLES AT DINNER LAST NIGHT! THERE WILL BE GRAVE CONSEQUENCES! I'M AFRAID YOUR FIANCEE MUST DIE!"
...though really, I think my favorite line here is at the beginning: " It was easier being someone else’s confidante." That's just so ON.
