Ok. I know. I KNOW. I just did a picspam like three days ago. I was not expecting to get home from a successful day of shopping and just suddenly feel it necessary to picspam Smallville. But who knew that last week's episode of Smallville would be so good. Certainly not I! I never expect the words epic amazing and Smallville to coincide in the same sentence. No one was more shocked than I was! I'm starting to feel like maybe my abusive relationship with Smallville is at a turning point. Like, maybe Smallville really means it when it says it loves me now? Maybe it'll stop hitting me?
BUT OMG THAT EPISODE WAS SO GOOD IT MADE ME FEEL MANY FEELINGS IN MY HEART WHERE I FEEL FEELINGS!
The episode finished and I felt like I was trapped in a glass case of emotions! As
nyonyo put it, if you had told me last year that a Whedon show would be on the air and I'd be like "lol whatever let's cap Smallville!" I would have called you a liar and a scoundrel. AND YET!
Since
nyonyo did a insanely beautiful picspam of the whole episode already, I decided to just picspam the epic Chlark phone convo that I've been watching on a loop on youtube.

SO! Usually I pepper my picspams with ~witty~ comments but like...IDK guys I think I'm all out of witty. I think this scene has robbed me of my ability to snark and left me just going "<3<3<3".
Seriously, it's so good. SO GOOD. Clark has emotions and then shows those emotions on his FACE! That never happens on this show!

I think what I love most about Clark's convo with Ollie is how he just can't wrap his mind around Chloe leaving him. Like he has all the evidence that it's happening and people are telling him to his face that it's happening and yet his brain literally cannot accept a scenario in which Chloe chooses someone else over him. Ollie's like "Chloe left! With Davis! Who she has feelings for!" and Clark is like "Chloe wouldn't leaveMEEEEE her friends! You just don't understand our LOOOVEEE friendship! I HATE YOU SHUT YOUR STUPID FACE!"
And then he stares at the yearbook picture of them and considers whether it would be tacky to doodle hearts on the frame.

The lighting in this scene was really pretty. I love the shot of Davis through the convenience store window.

Chloe: Look, everything I've ever done, right or wrong, I did it for you.
Clark: By running away? Admit it Chloe, you have feelings for Davis that's why you're protecting him.
Chloe: Clark I'm protecting you.
<3<3<3 OMG I love that Chloe line so much. Sometimes the writers just GET IT and it's amazing because it doesn't happen that often. But seriously, yes. Everything that Chloe does she does for Clark and I love her telling him so flat out. I also love that Clark's first reaction is totally jealousy because Chloe is running away with Davis. OMGGGGG! I LOVE THEM. (I knew this picspam commentary was gonna be a total bust of just me flailing about.)

Clark: Chloe, I'm going to spend every second looking for you. I'll find a way to save you!
Chloe: Clark you're not here to save one person you're here to save all of us.
OMGGGGGGGGGG! MY HEART! This scene guys. This scene. Look at Tom Weiling using his face to convey ~emotions~! I mean, it goes without saying that Allison Mack is fantastic because she can cycle through about fifty facial expressions in the space of five seconds. But TW is never as good as when he's playing a great Chlark scene.

Clark: And you think sacrificing yourself will help me do that? Chloe, you're wrong. You're wrong Chloe.
Chloe: I must've thrown a million green rocks away and I've never really saved you. Now I can.
The way he says "You're wrong Chloe" kills me. It's so sad! He just wants her to come back so they can get takeout and eat it in the DP basement and then scooby together and figure out the solution. Davis keeps saying in this episode that he doesn't know who he'd be without Chloe but I think that Clark is starting to realize the same thing. How would Clark get by without Chloe? I mean unless all his problems revolved around finding pie or feeding Shelby. Let's admit it, Chloe's the one who does the heavy lifting when it comes to thinking in that relationship.

Clark: Chloe this is your life that we're talking about, don't do this.
Chloe: Clark, if there's one lesson I've learned from you it's that choosing the greater good is never a sacrifice.
Clark: Chloe?!
Poor Clark just keeps thinking he can talk her off the edge of doing this. Allison Mack is fantastic here. Chloe is so strong and so sad and so determined to save Clark and help Davis. And it's all going to collapse on her and it's going to be horrible. :*( HEARTBREAK!

BWAHAHAHAHA HULK SMASH!! The second cap always cracks me up. He's like "FUCKING PHONE!". I just love it also because it's like maybe if Clark had a phone he could hang up drama-whorishly he wouldn't have to pound that cabinet. But he has this little cell phone that he has to hit a little button to hang up and that's just not dramatically satisfying enough for him. SO THE CABINET MUST SUFFER INSTEAD. This is the totally healthy way that Clark deals with his feelings, by smashing the crap out of inanimate objects.
It's just impossible to deny the OTP of Chlark though. I mean, Clark never gets this emotional about anything other than Chloe. Because Chloe is his person and he's lost without her and he loves her but can't say it so instead he just smashes cabinets and yells at Ollie about how Chloe would never leave her friendddsss. When really he means Chloe would never leave HIM. OMGOMG <3<3 I'm getting incoherent again omg.

I love this. It's Chloe doing that Chloe thing she does where she cries and then pulls herself together as Davis comes out and then smiles through the pain. AM is fantastic.

Davis: You said that road trips give you a sweet tooth, so...
Chloe: Thank you.
Davis: We better get moving if we wanna hit the border by morning.
Chloe: Let's disappear.
Awwww! The heart shaped chocolate is so cute. Why so adorable Davis? He is truly my favorite serial killer ever. It's a sad commentary on Chloe's love life when the serial killer is really the only one who treats her nicely on any kind of consistent basis. He remembers that she has a road trip sweet tooth! The Chloe/Davis thing this season has really been the highlight for me. Their relationship is so angsty and awesome. It definitely doesn't hurt that they have such sexy chemistry or that SW and AM are so pretty. I wish we would just get a few episodes dedicated to their roadtrip. Like, Chloe and Davis: fighting over the radio! Chloe and Davis: playing zitch dog! Chloe and Davis: camping! The possibilities are endless! Why is it the end of the season already?

I love how as soon as Davis isn't around she allows herself to be like "Oh shit what am I doing?" She's in way over her head and she knows it but also knows this is the only option that will keep Clark safe.
....This episode, man. THIS EPISODE. What are you doing to me, Smallville? I wanna believe you've changed but then I remember that last week was the Lois leather!daddy episode and then I'm less sure of your commitment tosparkle motion our ~lurve~.
Dear Smallville, please continue to be this amazing. XOXO- me.
