I have a new show that I love with all my heart. (Take that Smallville.) It's called Hana Yori Dango. And it is awesome.

No. Really.

Here are some awesome things about it, in no particular order:
-The worst fashion sense I've ever seen. Anywhere.
-Domyouji
-Domyouji/Makino
-THE HAIR IS ALIVE. (This relates to several characters. Guess who!?)
-Wacky hijinks and awesome romances cliches.
-The ability to break my heart and hurt me so good.
-Did I mention Domyouji/Makino?

First off: Previously, on Hana Yori Dango. (It's a pretty good summary of the first season. HAIR! Coats! Romance cliches! Rich whore hijinks!)

So, without further ado?



Hanadan episode 4

SO GOOD. There are so many things that I could say about this episode. It was heartbreaking and happy and squee-worthy all in one. And I'm not exaggerating when I say that I've seen the last five minutes at least 5 times and I've seen the whole episode through at least twice. There was just so much to love. But the ENDINGGGGG!! Oh man. It was so hearbreaking and wonderful.

"But to me, the taste of love...is your crappy cookies." SQUEE.

My roomate yelled "So THAT'S why he ate that year old moldy cookie!" Hee! I love her. She just couldn't get over him eating the cookie. I thought it was hiliarous.

There was so much to love in the episode that I have a hard time pinning down just one thing. I had this whole post planned in my head where I talked about the dynamics between Makino/Domyouji/Rui and Rui's transference issues RE: Shizuka/Makino but now all I can think of is incoherent SQUEE. Hopefully this in-depth, smart post will someday see the light of day. Probably not though.

So, without further ado I give: Episode 4: The PICSPAM


Snarking on Domyouji's running is always fun. This was about the convo between me and my friends as we watched: "Look! Look how he swirvels his hips when he runs! Why can't he just run normally?!" "Because, he has to do it with fashion! At least he's not wearing fur anywhere." "True."


HEARTBREAK!


LOVE this shot.


This one too. This season all the shots have just been so much prettier!




Awww! Happy Domyouji! Hopefully we get this background story soon! It involves babies and poodles, for extra tragedy!


EMO! I was expecting the Tom Weiling single (water)tear of emo-itude, much like the Indian that cries when you litter in that commerical. Instead we got the scream of emo agony and PAIN. Score!


Domestic abuse = comedy gold on this show. :) I love Shigeru, probably about 90% becaues I like her hair.



I love how the kisses in drama's are always more like two lips just happening to be in the same region at the same time, as opposed to a real kiss. Which is why I love the kiss at the end of the first season so much. It was a real kiss!


I loved her reaction: "You can't just do something like that without a warning."


BEST PART OF THE EPISODE. SPAZZ ATTACK DOMYOUJI!


Just watch the scene over again, now only watching Sojiuro's face. You won't be sorry.


You know...if the eyes are the windows to the soul, than I guess the HAIR is like the curtain. WHICH IS ALWAYS CLOSED. GET A HAIRCUT OMGZ!




He wants to ask Rui about Makino but is just too...Tsukasa to do so. I still can't get over the Shake pia joke though. It was so awesomely bad. I missed neurotic, crazy Tsukasa.


I have a crush on Yuuki's hair this season. It's not like the all consuming love I have for Matshima Nanako's layers, but then again...what is?


Tsukasa + Dates= wacky diaster. SEE: Ueno Zoo. See also: Dead animal attached to coat at said zoo.


THE HAIR has apparently decided that it has taken possesion of the left eye. Status of right eye: Uncertain.




LOVE THEM.


Love this shot. The angle is so pretty. I'd love to get more background about Sojiro as well. There's backstory there that we haven't gotten to see yet. I love seeing him more this season. I fell in love with him last season, but because of the nature of the story last year, there just wasn't enough time to really deal with his character. I want to see much more Yuuki/Sojiro this year.




HAIIIIRRRRR. Pretttttyyyy.




This is the moment where you can *see* Domyouji thinking "What the hell am I doing here?!"


Maybe my favorite shot of the episode. It was just SO SAD. And it was perfect and told you everything you needed to know without one word. Just...LOVE.


SO SAD.


WALLPAPER! I blame nyonyo for my immediate thoughts after hearing about Makino having to move due to the whole "family abadonment" thing being "NOT THE WALLPAPER!!!"


Flashback Tsukasa is pretty smokin in his suit and the pretty lighting! All smug and hot.


So obviously there had to be another cap included. While watching it with my friends I started laughing when someone pointed out that they were conducting the meeting in Japanese. In New York, with probably mostly American business people. Oh well. At least we didn't have to hear Matsujun attempt English again. The "What you talkin bout!" in the first episode still makes me smile whenever I'm down.


This facial expression when seeing her new building for the first time is priceless.


YES! COME BACK TO ME COATS OF DOOM! How I've missed you. I won't mock you anymore my babies. Just come back to me. I'VE MISSED YOU SO.


I just really loved that shot of her building for some reason. Even the exteriors this season are prettier.


You know, if I wasn't firmly rooting for Tsukushi/Tsukasa for eva and eva? I might think that Tsukasa and Shigeru were MEANT2BE just based on the fact that they apparently have the same taste in coats. I don't think Tsukasa has ever see a faux fur coat that he could turn down.




THE HAIR RETREATS!


The locations this season. I am dying from the pretty. (Also, I think I want Shizuka's shoes. I don't care that I couldn't walk in them. They are pretty!)


The fly swatter. *dies laughing* I love how they beat up Domyouji for like five straight minutes without noticing it was him.




This rivels s1's "Oh, what are you doing on this street that I stopped on, rolled down my window and then looked in your direction?" Seriously. "OH! What a coincidence that I would find you in this crappy apartment building that I totally didn't know you were living in beforehand. Totally. No knowledge of this. Just found out. SMALL WORLD!


Best excuse to buy the love apartment of your ex: "I need to improve my manliness". Maybe stop wearing coats that were once alive then?


Susumu: Are you oya-san then? Domyouji: Ore no Domyouji-san! BAKA! *dies*


"Don't listen to him, his Japanese is very weak." "How many times do I have to tell you, there is no weak or strong in Japanese, it's a lanaguage after all."


Shizuka's house is lite SO MUCH prettier this season. I really, really love it.


She's a very pretty girl.


Again, I'm in love with this shot. Also, it was pointed out to me (twice) that whenever a character says arigato....cue Flavor of Life. And it's SO TRUE. I think there might be once or twice where this isn't true so far but mostly, it's kinda funny. I'm gonna see if I can call when the song will start up next episode.


IN LOVE WITH THIS LOCATION AND LIGHTING AND EVERYTHING!


I like how Tsukushi's place is more spacious now and gives the camera more movement.




*Dies* She tells him she's barely hanging on, even though she looks strong. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.

Leaning some more! And finally a normal outfit.


I loved this whole story about the fig and the heart and the bittersweet taste of love.


But to me...

So obviously I was glad to see that the WALLPAPER made the journey between old house and new.


Seriously though. Now? Not a good time. Put it on silent, like normal people do, and call him back later. Oh, who am I kidding? What would be dramatic about THAT?


*FALLS* Well at least they weren't exactly on each other's lips, like before.

LOVELOVELOVELOVE!! They were Caught in the Act....of love. (If you don't know the reference go here But I'm warning you. Boy band hijinks ensue)


nyonyo really put this perfectly. Domyouji looks really sorry, but not so sorry that you think he regrets Shigeru finding out.




POOR RUI.


EVEN POORER SHIGERU. She wasn't expecting this at all. She was totally blindsided. Her delivery was just SO SAD. Atashi...Saru ja nai yo.


Once again, I feel sad for Rui. The way he said Tsukasa was so surprised and heartbroken. But honestly, I feel like he's being just as blind at Tsukasa usually is about this whole thing. Usually Rui is the one who sees clearly what is going on, and understands Tsukasa. But when he decided to seriously persue Tsukushi, it's like he started living in a denial bubble that Tsukasa was still very much in love with her. Instead, he was totally ready to believe that Tsukasa was ok with marrying Shigeru, when Sojiro and...basically everyone with eyes knew there was more to the story. I really love this though, because I feel like it's true and realistic for Rui's character. The same way he was blinded by his love for Shizuka is the same way he's acting with Makino. When Shizuka was around or coming home, the rest of the world wasn't as important to him. So it makes sense for Rui to ignore what's really going on because of his feelings for Makino.

I wanted to get a cap of him grabbing her hand but I couldn't find one. But yea, I LOVE how the music cut out *right* when he grabbed her hand.


And then they just STARE. I love this show SO MUCH. I can't wait until the subs for five are out.
