Hanadan Fanmix: Saving You Saved Me {A Makino/Domyouji Mix}

Happy birthday topazera!!!!! This is the non-lazy portion of my present! Makino/Domyouji fanmix timeeee!! I've been meaning to make a Makino/Domyouji fanmix for awhile. It usually takes me much longer to throw together a fanmix because it's usually a torturous process of "IDK I don't think that fits! It has to fit ~perfectly~" But thankfully this one came together really quickly. :) I hope you like it, I ended up using a lot of music that's in my current rotation/obsession on my ipod.

First I just wanted to randomly say that I was going for sort of a happily-ever-after, sort of light, summery vibe with this. Now whether or not that worked is sort of up in the air.

!!! OMG YAAAAY! FANMIX! There's a real lack of drama fanmixes so this is SO WELCOME IN MY LIFE. You assembled this so quickly! I too am the type to MULL OVER THE SIGNIFICANCE of every song choice. And it has a bunch of music I don't know (and I liked your last C/B mix a lot, so I know our taste in music is similar)! <3 <3 <3

EXTENSIVE FEEDBACK: First off, love the cover art! You definitely hit the summery, happy vibe there. SO PRETTY. I love the shade of pink, it's just the right transition color.

Oh! "Face to Face on High Places" is such a gorgeous song! And the lyrics are perfectly suited. Oh, kids, with your changing each other's lives and fighting for it every step of the way. <3 I love these lines from "Twilight Galaxy" for them "Did I ask you for attention/ When affection is what I need". Awww. "Never Had Nobody Like You" is SO in character for Domyouji. That paired with "I Want You" for Makino makes me so ridiculously bubbly. (There may have been spontaneous dancing involved!) "You and me walking together/ Screwing up for worse or for better." AWWWWW IT'S TRUE. "Look Up" is one of my favorite joyous/romantic songs ever. I have a grin on my face whenever I listen to it and "A hurricane that keeps you there safe" is something I think of often. Wow, I've never even heard of Gotye but I really like that song. It's got that lush feel I like. MUST LEARN MORE. Aw, "We make hope from every small disaster". Hee, I think I just like any line that mentions how much they mess things up but how it just cements their relationship. YES, ENDING ON "ONE LOVE"! Had to happen! YAY! Thanks! I'm so glad you liked it! I always have to sit around and think long thinky thoughts about whether or not a song ~perfectly encapsulates~ the character/couple/whatever so it's usually a process that takes forever. And yet I put this one together so quickly! I think it's because I've actually been thinking of making a fanmix for them and so I had a bunch of songs already in mind.

I remember listening to School of Seven Bells for the first time because I was going to one of their concerts and I got to this song and I was like "OMG MAKINO/DOMYOUJI WHAT WHAT?" This song just sort of hit me over the head with how them it was. Like all the lines about loosing your voice and burying your will and that's exactly where Makino was at the beginning of the series. And Domyouji's douchebaggery helped her to realize that she didn't want to be the kind of person who just sat by and let bad things happened anymore. And then obviously she changed his life and saved him and that saved her and OMG THEY ARE SO OTP!

There is an ACTUAL TERM for this in Arashi fandom. It is called being Jun-baited! Like you start with something Matsujun has been in and before you know it you're in Kinokuniya in NYC looking up Arashi tour photo books and WTF when did that even happen? You'll never know. It's scary.

Hee! This was probably actually the condensed version of my reaction because I always spend a lot of time being like "What is the ~story~ they're trying to tell me? How does this fit with that?" Because I know I think about those things when I fanmix and am pleased whenever people picks things up. :D I've definitely already listened to it at least seven times and squeed to myself about how fitting the choices are each time.

Yeah, it's very cool how many lines you can fit directly with her perspective in that song! I love that you fould songs that are amazingly in-character! (Also, I love how Domyouji's douchebaggery plays in role in actually helping Makino. Like, it's not just the story of an ass meeting a girl and becoming a woobie, it fits it a bigger picture for both him and Makino. I don't know if I'm expressing this right but the mix brings up thinky type thoughts. :))

Also, I've been listening to "Hysteric" a million times in a row and "You suddenly complete me" is so emotionally charged. I need to get more of their music, I only have Fever to Tell and clearly, I'm missing out!

LOL! This totally proves I don't hear the music on TV shows sometimes because I have no recollection of that song! I've done this before with "Three Wishes" from The Pierces which was even a scene focused on the music. YOU GOT ME AGAIN GG MUSIC EDITORS! Chuck and Blair are just too distracting to my brain.
