I was perfect.

I watched Black Swan Monday night. IT WAS VERY PRETTY AND FREAKY AND AWESOME. So I decided to picspam. Spoiler alert: when hopped up on cold medicine that movie is even more trippy.

BLACK SWAN

That cap of the crazy Black Swan eyes is going to haunt my dreams. So creepy!

Natalie Portman was SO GOOD. I was seriously, seriously impressed. I mean, she's always good but this performance was totally something different. I can't even really describe how much I loved the movie. It just seemed like it should have been so obnoxious with all the symbolism and "ouch anvil!" and yet that's not how it played at all. I mean, obviously the symbolism is there. White Swan/Black Swan is obviously all about the duality of Nina. There's the repressed, quiet Nina and then there's the batshit crazy Nina. And they're practically two different people and the whole movie is the idea of being able to strike a balance but she can never figure out how. There's also a whole interesting Madonna/Whore thing going on in the movie that I'll leave to a more eloquent person to talk about.

Especially since my whole thought process is basically "PRETTY! PRETTY PEOPLE! SKEEVY COACH GUY IS SORT OF HOT. I SHOULD NOT BE THINKING THAT. CARTER BAIZEN? WHY YOU UP IN DA CLUB HOMIE? WHY YOU SO SWEATY IN DA CLUB HOMIE? HER MOM IS SO CREEPY." Obviously, I am one of the great thinkers of my generation. I should really have my own column discussing today's ~cinema~. I will be like Ebert and my rating system will consist of how many extra Ts I put in the word PRETTTTTTY. It will be a great day for film theory.

It also makes her resemble some sort of anime character.

When I thought this movie was primarily a horror movie, I desperately wanted to see it. But if it's mainly Natalie Portman going nuts because of wanting to land a part in a ballet--which I had hoped would only be a small portion of it, since I despise ballet--I guess it's just not for me.

So it's just insanity, and not possession?

Haha! It does! But like an anime character that would eat you.

Yea it's more psychological I'd say than outright horror. There are definitely a lot of horror aspects to the story and there were a bunch of times I was like "HO SHIZZZZZ" but I don't think I'd peg it as being more of a horror movie. I'd still suggest it even if you don't like ballet but honestly there is a bunch of ballet in it so it might not be for you.

Still her crazy black swan eyes were seriously freaky.
