You have no idea how effing awesome this was. I saw the similarities more in the Korean version of Hanadan, but Japanese!HYD always makes me smile, because Japanese!Domyouji/Makino is MADE OF SO MUCH WIN.
Have you seen the Korean version? I have to say that the Japanese one is madness with the fashion but it does steer into tacky a little. The Korean one, however. BOW TIES GALORE.

I did watch the Korean version, I didn't like it as much as the Japanese version, which will always be my number one fave as far as dramas go.

OMG the fashion in HYD is INSANE which is part of the awesome factor. The fashion in BOF was also sort of crazy but at least to a lesser extent. I could never remember the name of the guy who made pottery (which is ironic because he was totally my favorite out of the show) so I used to call him Creepy Asian Chuck Bass. I....have no idea. It's possible it was all the bowties.

HE WAS TOTALLY THE ASIAN CHUCK BASS.
I think the korean version suffered a lot because of the madness of their production. You know one of their cast members committed suicide? And all of them got into various car accidents? By the end of the show I was like, oh snap, they look so exhausted.
BUT NO ONE CAN PWN JAPANESE!Domyouji. I also loved that they used Ikuta Toma. Omg, I love that guy so much.
